Born in 1954, Jacques Pugin became a photographer in 1972, and moved to Zurich. His first series Graffiti grafted, where he draws in the photograph with the light, is exposed in the whole world. Claiming to be a photographer-plastician, Jacques Pugin practices an experimental photography where plastic research is mixed with a reflection on time, space and the complex relationship between man and nature. Photographing traces of light, using collages, video, working with colors, he redefines photography and its subjects. He uses very early the possibilities offered by the computer tool and also works with a large format Polaroid camera which allows him to intervene on the image. Since 2000, he has been traveling around the world for the Sacred Site series, and returns to Switzerland to photograph mountain landscapes to give a striking vision of them.

Se revendiquant photographe-plasticien, Jacques Pugin pratique une photographie expérimentale où la recherche plastique se mêle à une réflexion sur le temps, l'espace et la relation complexe entre l'homme et la nature. Photographiant les traces de lumière, utilisant les collages, la vidéo, travaillant les couleurs, il redéfinit la photographie et ses sujets. Il utilise très tôt les possibilités offertes par l'outil informatique et travaille également avec un appareil Polaroid grand format qui lui permet d'intervenir sur l'image. Depuis 2000, il voyage à travers le monde pour la série Sacred Site, et revient en Suisse pour photographier les paysages de montagne afin d'en donner une vision saisissante.
