Jack Dabaghian was born in Beirut in 1961. Passionate about images and photographic practices, he has been a senior reporter, director of the Middle East photo service at Reuters and a fashion photographer for the past 30 years, working for the press and the image. His approach draws on the history of photographic processes to create a powerful and dreamlike work. Photographic experimentation, alternative and ancient processes play a central role. Between reality and illusion, his images question the mechanisms of representation and, through them, the relationship between humanity and imagination, the tangible world and its fragility. Time, photosensitive matter, memory, living humans and non-humans, the destruction of ecosystems, the beauty and strength of light run through this new writing with ambition and sensitivity.

Jack Dabaghian est né à Beyrouth en 1961. Passionné par l’image et les pratiques photographiques, tour à tour grand reporter, directeur du service photo Moyen-Orient de Reuters et photographe de mode, il a été depuis 30 ans au service de la presse et de l’image. Son approche puise aux sources de l’histoire des procédés photographiques pour élaborer une oeuvre puissamment évocatrice et onirique. L’expérimentation photographique, les procédés alternatifs et anciens y tiennent un rôle central. Entre réalité et illusion ses images interrogent les mécanismes de représentations et à travers eux le rapport de l’humanité à l’imagination, au monde tangible et à ses fragilités. Le temps, la matière photosensible, la mémoire, les vivants humains et non humains, la destruction des écosystèmes, la beauté et la force des éléments traversent avec ambition et sensibilité cette nouvelle écriture.
